Gnosis is often best transmitted through the medium of art and symbol. Many scholars have posited that the ancient heretics were as much visionary artists as they were theologians. We delve into the modern incarnation of the faith-almost-forgotten by focusing on its manifestations in pop culture. We also take a penetrating view of two rising talents and their evocative works. One has released a graphic novel that is a charged reinterpretation of the primordial Gnostic creation myth. The other is a member of a progressive rock band whose themes echo the syncretic, mystic call of the Classic Gnostics and their esoteric brethren.
